Trouble Spots - Quickly identify where your student needs help!
What are Trouble Spots?
Trouble Spots is a feature that identifies which specific assignments your student needs help with.
What triggers an assignment to be identified as a Trouble Spot?
You make that determination. In the Online Grading Settings for your student, you can select the parameters that trigger whether an assignment is listed as a Trouble Spot. For example, if you select 80% or lower as the parameter and your student gets 75% on the assignment, it would be listed as a Trouble Spot. For steps on how to change that setting, go here: How to Change Online Grading Settings
Where can I find my student's Trouble Spots?
From the Parent Dashboard, you can get to your student's Trouble Spots in a few different ways:
- Student Card>View Progress>Trouble Spots
- Recent Activities>Go To>Student>Trouble Spots
- Reports>Student>View Trouble Spots
What information will I find on Trouble Spots?
Trouble Spots include the following information:
- Date of Assignment
- Lesson Number
- Assignment Type
- Status
- Score
- Trouble Spots (number of incorrect/skipped questions on that assignment)
What do I do with the Trouble Spots information?
The Trouble Spots feature was designed to highlight (and remind you about) areas in which your student needs assistance. It's up to you to decide what to do with the information, but here are some tips:
- Depending on the number of Trouble Spots, the age/temperament of your student and your own preferences, you can either go through the list on your own before you involve your student or bring your student into the process right away.
- Be sure to have the Student Textbook, Solutions Manual and your student's written work on-hand.
- Pull up the Trouble Spots.
- Click View. Now you can see which problems were marked as Incorrect, Never Attempted or Flagged.
- Incorrect? Click View Student Responseto see the answer that was submitted. Based on their answer, you could do a few different things:
- Have your student rework the problem on the spot and then mark it as Correct with half or full point.
- Reset the problem so it appears as a task to complete with they log into their account.
- Leave it as Incorrect.
- Never Attempted/Flagged? Discuss with your student and then decide how to proceed:
- Have your student rewatch the lesson video pertaining to that problem/concept.
- Have your student do the work on the spot or reset the problem so they can do it later.
- Incorrect? Click View Student Responseto see the answer that was submitted. Based on their answer, you could do a few different things:
- Once you and your student have taken action (whatever that may be,) on the Trouble Spot, click Dismiss. This will change the status to Resolved.
