The manipulatives kit is a handy way to get all the manipulatives in place. However, you can purchase some of the most needed items separately. We recommend play money and geometric shapes if you’d like to purchase on your own. You can purchase these items separately on Amazon.

In order to complete Saxon Math 3 as it was intended, it is highly recommended that your student have access to the following manipulatives:

  • play money including bills and coins
  • geometric shapes
  • demonstration clock
  • outdoor thermometer
  • ruler and yardstick
  • pattern blocks
  • small figures/toys to count {teddy bears, army men, plastic bugs...}
  • fraction shapes
  • colored tiles
  • two-colored chips
  • scale
  • map

You may already own many of the above items, be able to create them yourself or purchase them individually cheaper.  But, if you want an easy way to obtain the majority of the list above, the kit is a handy option.
