Here's what we recommend:
- Watch the Nicole the Math Lady lesson video.
- Do a practice set. There are two options. You can either do the Nicole the Math Lady practice problems video or do the lesson practice set in your book.
- If your child needs more support, we recommend doing Nicole’s practice video. The practice video acts as a second teaching/walkthrough of the concept.
- If your child picks the lesson up very quickly, they can do the practice set and just tackle the problems. If you prefer to do the practice set in the book, we recommend having the online grading feature so your child can correct each problem and receive immediate feedback as they go.
- Do the mixed practice set in the book (the one with the 30 problems.) It’s a lot…we know…but the Saxon method recommends you do all 30 problems for the best results. However, we also know this can be too much for some students, so some people chose to do odds or evens problems instead.
Online grading give you the option to do:
- All problems
- Odds
- Evens
- Switching between Odds/Evens
It also give you access to the Go to Lesson link which in the mixed practice problems, takes you back to the original lesson the concept was taught. This teaches the kids to use their retires wisely to try to learn the concept.
There is a canned response for this.
